SPECIAL SELECTION

ROAD RUNNER

WHAT DO YOU GET IF YOU CROSS A RUNNING SHOE WITH A sports car? We’re not sure either, but there’s a pretty good chance that the resulting trainer/motor hybrid would look something like Bounce:S, the latest offspring from the prodigiously fruitful union between Adidas and Porsche. The influence of the car manufacturer’s involvement is clearly apparent in the suspension system of metal springs built into the shoe’s sole, as well as the sleek, smart styling. Designed to absorb shock while running and to propel the athlete forward using the energy stored in the springs. Porsche and Adidas claim that the revolutionary suspension provides 20% more cushioning and 15% more elasticity than standard running shoes, and performance statistics aside, it has to be said that they look pretty good too. All in all it’s a good reason to get out on the road, but don’t worry if you can’t stand the thought of going running – the Porsche Design Sport collection also extends to tennis, golf, and, of course, driving gear.
